Yes, Windieknowe was as closely knit into the pattern of our lives as Key West, Gale Hill, and Aunt Jin’s house on Market Street in town, all four were homes to us, happy and care free, as all children’s homes should be. Written at 23 Round Hill, Northampton Mass. May 12th 1939, E. C. Williston.

I cannot leave all this empty page so shall tell more about Windieknowe. Bessie [Elizabeth Isabelle Minor Lee] the oldest daughter was the first of the Gale Hill children to be married. She was married here and so was Mal a number of years later. Bessie married Warren Lee and they built their home in that part of Windieknowe which we used to call the May wheat field and I was always sorry Warren named their new place Beau Lieu. I wish they had called in The May Wheat Field. Beau Lieu became another gathering place for the young people in the neighborhood.
